Will Robots take our jobs in the Future?
The technology we can create things that we could not imagine; thanks to the growth of machines we have developed a new society in where we make “things” to make the humans’ life easier, for example, prototypes that deliver food, drones that deliver packages and driverless cars that provide you.
The US hasn´t seen anything like this since the Industrial Revolution. According to the Wired Magazine writer Kevin Kelly states, “two hundred years ago, 70% of American workers lived on the farm. Today automation has replaced all but 1% of their jobs…It may be hard to believe, but before the end of this century, 70% of today’s occupations will likewise be replaced by automation.”
All of them are happening now. The real question is: “will robots replace our jobs?”
Honestly, the fear of robots replacing jobs is getting real. While doing the research, I found out that not all types of jobs are going to be replaced; some are in more danger than others, for example, cashier and toll booth, these kinds of jobs do not need human analysis, so it is easy for a machine to handle it. Some companies, such as McDonald’s have installed checkouts, in where customers order and pay their food through a touchscreen. Moreover, a lot of companies such as Google, are investing billions on the idea of self-drive cars; therefore there is a huge competition on the Car and tech companies on racing who will get their first self-driver. Once that is done, there is no need for a human being behind the wheel.
On the other hand, there are jobs in where machines won’t substitute humans’ jobs, like the nursery, let’s say that machines have been a great help in the medicine world. However, I do not like the idea of being injected an immunization by a robot.
In conclusion, this does not seem bad at all; I think we will create new jobs in where machines cannot replace it, also I expect that machines could lead to an economic boom because everything is getting much smarter, faster and easier for the human being.
